Letters to Baby: Week 18

Dear Baby,

Well, little sweet potato, it is crazy to think that 16 weeks have already gone by since we found out about you! And this time next week, we will be finding out lots more about you!

This week has been a fun one! Daddy has been looking forward to week 18 for awhile - ever since he first read in his Daddy book that 18 weeks would be a good time to start reading to you! He kicked things off with nightly readings from ESPN magazine, and is making sure you know your stuff for football season :). Although I am sure he will have to make the switch to Dr. Seuss or other children's books at some point after you born, to keep your interest, for now, he is filling your brain with loads of sports knowledge! He really is such a great husband, and already a wonderful Daddy. I can't wait for you to start responding to his voice!

I also, finally, started feeling a little movement! Now, everyone says that before you feel kicks, you feel "flutters" or "quickening". Please don't ask me what in the world "quickening" should feel like because I have absolutely no idea, but, as for "flutters", I was expecting, you know, like a butterfly sensation. Apparently "flutters" is either a generic term, or a misnomer because the first movements of yours I have felt have felt nothing like butterflies. The best way I can describe it, which also seems to be the oddest, is that it feels like you are in a little bubble ball (kind of like a clear, lightweight hamster wheel! One made out of a bubble!), and you are rolling around in there! I felt it quite a few times this week, only for a couple seconds each, but it was really exciting!

I have still been loving toasted turkey and cheese subs this week, as well as greek yogurt dip, flavored sparkling water, apples, milk, and poptarts (to go with my milk, of course!). I am still alternating between the Tracy Anderson Pregnancy Project and Yoga for most of my workouts, but have also thrown in a few random leg workouts, and hope to be adding in more and more walking as the weather (finally!) cools down.

I am trying so hard to sleep on one of my sides, which wasn't a problem at all before pregnancy, but, nowadays, I almost always wake up on my back! Other than that, and frequent trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night, sleeping went pretty well this past week! Hope that trend continues for a good long while!

Until next week, little one. We love you!

Love,
Mommy
