I don't know about y'all - maybe it is something with having grown up at the beach, but Memorial Day, for me, is really the kickoff of summer. It's the first real weekend that the tourists start flocking to the beach, the weather is warm, and, best part, it is a 3-day weekend (which, really, shouldn't all summer weekends be 3-day weekends? Let's start a petition!).
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend with their families and friends. Like so many holidays, though, we often get far removed from the actual day itself. I hope everyone takes time to remember, with gratitude, those who have served our great country, allowing us the freedoms we often overlook.
